With Halloween coming up, we thought it would be fun to reflect on the origins of this special holiday. Celebrated by all ages, the holiday we know today as Halloween comes from the Irish festival Samhain (pronounced “sah-win”). Samhain marked the passage from the summer harvest season to the dark of winter, with folks taking stock of supplies and preparing for the months to come. We can all relate to that! During the festival, bonfires were lit and people would wear costumes to ward off roaming spirits. Very fitting to the spooky-ness associated with our Hallow’s Eve festivities that we practice today.
